I've always been overweight, but when I was 22 I started to put on weight fast.  I gained 70 lbs in 6 months.  The reason I put on so much weight was because I unintentionally taught myself to eat as a way to reduce stress and anxiety.  I remember one night I was having an anxiety attack, I remembered that I had a drink of Mountain Dew in my car.  I left my apartment and went to my car.  As I sat there drinking the soda pop my stress level instantly dropped.  It was like the sugar was a calming agent and my stress went away.

Ever since then I've really struggled to not overeat, especially when I'm anxious.  When my anxiety is really bad and I'm in a panic mode it feel like I am choosing between hurting myself physically (cutting or even suicide) and eating.  I feel like I'm eating to save my life.  The world closes in and all I can see is darkness, it's like I can only see the problem right in front of me and my decision to eat is really a choice to live.

I gained a total of 100 lbs total and I didn't feel like I had power over it.  At one point I went on a gluten free diet for 3 months, another time I went on a sugar fast for 7 days and then for 2 months after that I only ate sugar once a week.  Even trying everything I knew how to do I was still gaining weight.  I didn't understand it and I needed help.

The first step for me was to heal from my emotional pain.  This is an ongoing process but I met with a therapist and started to face my problems.  I was burying my feelings and fears and that wasn't healthy.  I believe that we need to care for every aspect of our health to be a whole and healthy person. I wasn't taking care of my physical health by overeating and eating too much sugar and fat. My emotional health was a wreck since I wasn't facing my problems.  Because I felt shame about my weight and unhappiness I didn't want to be around people, so my social health was lacking.  I felt my spiritual life was in order but having one good aspect of my health can't make up for 3 unhealthy aspects.  I began to heal.

Two years ago I discovered juicing.  I learned how the cells of our bodies can get sick and then they don't function properly.  By juicing with fresh fruits and vegetables I'm giving nutrients to my cells and helping them operate at full capacity.  My mind feels clearer when I juice.  Juicing to lose weight works.  The hardest part is getting started.  You need to find the best juicing recipes and experiment with them.  Find things that you like.  Juicing should be fun.

Once I started juicing and eating healthier I began to lose weight.  I lost 40 lbs in 8 months.  It felt great.  Everyone is different and you should find something that works for you, but the truth is we all need to work to take care of ourselves.  Without health we have nothing.

Do research on how to juice. There are lots of resources, my favorite being everythingaboutjuicing.com There are juicing recipes, stories, and tips.

Get Your Daily Veggie And Fruit Servings In The Easy Way With Juicing

Many fruits and vegetables can be used for juicing, extracting essential vitamins and minerals from the plants, and providing you with a delicious variety of healthful beverages. You will reap more benefits by juicing healthy produce than you would by drinking frozen or bottled juice. Fresh juice makes a healthy and delicious treat.

If you must store your juice in the fridge, add a tablespoon of lemon juice. This small amount of lemon juice shouldn't have a major effect on the flavor, but it will keep this juice from becoming discolored as it sits, creating a more appetizing effect. Always try to make your juice just before you drink it, for maximum health benefits.

Brush your teeth as soon as possible after drinking fresh fruit juice. Fruit juice is naturally very high in sugar, in addition to containing acids that can eat away at tooth enamel. The longer these sugars and acids sit in your mouth, the worse the damage will be, so brush soon.

If storing your juice, use only air tight containers to avoid the damage from oxidation. Refrigerate your juice and as a little helper, add in just a little bit of lemon juice to help keep your juice as fresh as possible. Following these steps should lead you to still have tasty, healthy juice even hours after you did the juicing.

Juicing vegetables is a great way to get healthy foods into a child who won't eat them whole. A lot of children do not like vegetables. You can juice fruits and vegetables together to create a great taste and keep children in the dark about the vegetables that they are drinking.
